Building Your Web Site...
Earlier this month, YourWebPro announced a new website builder for small business. With so many web site builders out there, including Microsoft Front Page, Dreamweaver and more yet so many terrible looking web sites, I wanted to know more.Gary Spies, founder and CEO of YourWebPro took some time to answer my questions.
Why use a web based product as opposed to installed software?
Installed software like Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia Dreamweaver are very good text editors. But that’s where their capabilities end. These products simply convert plain text (typed in by the novice) to html so Internet browser software can then convert it back to plain text for viewing.
Editor comment - I build smallbiztechnology.com and I know that Dreamweaver is used by many professional web developers. I think they are more than plain text editors.
These products cannot create graphics; in fact, graphics must be imported separately to text editors and then formatted individually so the html can be inserted.
Each page must then be arranged for navigation by the viewer. Links to each page must be installed and website “Map” must be set up.
In order to be viewed on the Internet, the semi-complete web page(s) require a place to “live.” Web hosting companies will make disk space available and “host” the website. This incurs a separate monthly cost and generally the hosting company will not maintain the website. In other words, the website owner must re-write the text, convert it to html, and rearrange the graphics then send the updated information to the hosting service. This is done through a process called “FTP,” also known as file transfer protocol. FTP is another awkward step necessary to upgrade a website when using installed “boxed” web design software.
YourWebPro.com is a web-based intelligent application. Web-based is defined as a service that requires no intrusive downloads to an individual’s PC. YourWebPro resides on powerful web servers located in different parts of the country (as backup to each other) and is maintained by professional technical staff around the clock.
Users connect to their YourWebPro website management console as simply as they log into their banking manager.
Users type plain language, add pictures, include word documents and Adobe PDF documents, if they desire. No technical skill is required.
Compared to other major players in the industry, no other automated application has the functionality or flexibility. Boxed software is an excellent product for basic web site creation, but of millions of users, all share the same standard templates, many websites look alike as they are duplicated over and over again.
The YourWebPro design styles are richly elegant, all customized by highly skilled and creative designers. Each is then hand crafted to meet the Clients’ exact specifications. The application itself is fast, easy to navigate and the process to set up and later modify any element of the website can be done without outside intervention by the Client.
The website is managed “real time” so the Clients is rewarded by seeing his/her changes instantly.
YourWebPro allows for Clients to install word documents, PDF pages, spreadsheets and more. An automatic image resizing mechanism ensures any picture (uploaded by the client, or chosen from YourWebPro’s huge gallery of royalty free images) is matched to appropriate fit on any webpage.
What truly differentiates YourWebPro is the remarkable yet easy to use eMarketing system. Clients’ easily create rich html eMail campaigns, announcement, newsletters, bulletins, coupons, and more. They immediately send their eMail without incurring any printing or postage cost.
What about Web developers - where do they fit in?
Web Developers cannot compete.
Professional web developers and graphic designers typically go after large projects from big companies with large budgets. These firms’ pricing ranges from $25.00 – $145.00 per hour. A YourWebPro website would cost in excess of $1500.00 dollars to produce, not including the monthly maintenance and hosting cost the client would then pay in addition to the website cost
