Brian Merritt, CEO and co-founder of Seed, is a tech veteran with 25 years of experience as a founder, engineer, and leader. Brian is passionate about bringing together world-class technology teams to improve the day-to-day lives of our business community.

As a lifelong entrepreneur, Brian understands the challenges of starting and running a small business. Recognizing that existing banks struggle to provide a combination of great technology and extraordinary customer service, Brian founded Seed as a customer-centric digital bank that makes it easy to start, run, and grow a business.

Brian is a champion of change in the banking industry. In his previous role as an executive at the consumer bank Simple, he helped to build the highest-rated and most-loved consumer bank in the US. He has spoken at banking industry events and contributed to banking trade publications such as American Banker in an effort to encourage the industry to modernize and improve its customer service. Previously, he held leadership and engineering positions at Gap, Sony, and Topsy.

Brian grew up in Arizona and has lived in San Francisco for the last 20 years. He enjoys spending time helping other entrepreneurs, supporting the SF arts community, reading, and taking in all that Northern California has to offer.

He attended Brown University from 2002-2006 as a candidate for a combined Bachelor of Science degree in Computational and Theoretical Cognitive Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media and Literary Theory.
